Lisboa keeps a record of reconstruction and restoration due to several natural disasters like earthquake of 1755 and the other reason was the battle ship between scores of invaders like Phoenicians, Moors, Arabs, Romans and Spaniards. The city got settled down in the 12th century when it was recaptured by Christian crusades, and finally ended the era of Moors (arrived in 714) which exceeded for 450 years. Later, than in 1252, Lisboa was announced as the capital city of PORTUGAL.

From 15th to 18th century, the beautiful peninsula became generously famous for its charmed port. Explorers used this port for sailing and discovering other parts of the world. Portugal was the only country that took the Discoveries as the country's own risk, and not in other countries that the adventures and discoveries were made by private. Infante Dom Henrique de Avis, better known as Henry the Navigator, is a major contributor to the beginning of the Age of Discovery, encouraging the first trips to the discovery of new territories. The findings become an activity with the support of the Crown and creates the foundation for the expansion of the empire.

Vasco de Gama found a new route to India which makes this century unforgettable. Other discoveries through Atlantic Ocean were made by reaching new colonies in the Americas and South Africa. These novel discoveries made Lisboa one of the richest and prosperous lands in the entire world.
